We’re posting this from the DEMO 09 conference, which is wrapping up with some panel discussions. It’s been a whirlwind few days, with 39 companies launching an impressive array of new products and services. At 9:22 PST this morning, we took to the stage – and in 6 minutes demonstrated Primal Fusion’s new thought networking service. This is the first product we’ve released on our semantic synthesis platform, the core technology we’ve been developing for the past four years.
Primal Fusion is still in private alpha testing. If you’ve previously requested an invitation to our alpha, it’ll be heading your way very soon. If you’ve just heard of Primal Fusion and would like to learn more, check out our press release below. Then request an account so you can try it first-hand.
Primal Fusion launches the first “thought networking” service for taking your thinking online
Employs semantic technology to reorganize the Web around your thoughts
PALM DESERT, CA and WATERLOO, ON, March 2, 2009 - At the DEMO 09 conference today, Primal Fusion announced the launch of its semantic technology platform and the world’s first consumer “thought networking” service. This service provides a new way to experience the Internet without getting mired in a glut of information. Consumers easily collect and organize their thoughts about a subject, saving them in “thought networks” of machine-readable semantic data. Computers can understand and act upon this data in numerous ways, such as reorganizing the Web in response to our thoughts about a subject.
“This exciting service provides a much-needed way for individuals to take control of information online,” said Chris Shipley, executive producer of the DEMO Conference. “But just as exciting is how it signals an important step in the evolution of the Internet. Thought networking is one of the first compelling consumer applications we’ve seen for Web 3.0.”
Web 3.0 refers to the next step in the evolution of the Internet, towards more intelligent and autonomous applications. Semantic technologies such as Primal Fusion’s platform are considered key to this evolution.
“Thought networks are concrete representations of our abstract thoughts,” says Peter Sweeney, Founder & CTO of Primal Fusion. “They provide a connection between our thoughts and the instructions that computers need to work on our behalf.” Thought networks may easily be transformed into documents, websites, RSS feeds, and other forms for either consuming or sharing knowledge. They also provide a technical foundation for software “agents” - programs capable of performing a wide variety of automated tasks on our behalf.
Currently in private alpha testing, Primal Fusion will make thought networking available as a free online service at www.primalfusion.com. This should appeal to anyone investigating subjects whose information is scattered across the Internet, such as bloggers, journalists, students, researchers, and knowledge workers. The company is also building tools that allow third-parties to extend the service with additional sources of information and new breeds of software agents.
