Primal is a semantic engine

I looked up for your demo at DEMO.com cos I could not get my account activated. Could not wait to see what the thought network was all about. I had applied for account activation but was not able to get it work… too bad.
I follow your blogs and really love your idea of the semantic web. I am looking forward to contribute around this idea.

Keep up the good work and keep your followers like me updated on your progress.

Shreya

Hi Shreya, sorry to hear you had troubles with your account. FYI that Primal Fusion is in private alpha still, so accounts may not be activated immediately; perhaps this is the issue you ran into? If not, I encourage you to post the issue on our support forum. Several folks from Primal Fusion monitor these forums and respond to inquiries ASAP.

Yes… I believe you guys activate only a few accounts at a time. I can wait… thanks

This is phenomenal. Can’t wait to use it

Just out of curiosity: are you using classic and improved text mining algorithms to retrieve related key words?

Finally… something to work WITH me.. instead of consume my time. This is exactly how my brain works when I research and I brainstorm. I get very frustrated trying to specifically articulate my thoughts into a google search engine, only to have to sift through completely unrelated material, because of a keyword or ridiculous association or meaning. I cannot wait to test this tool! Thanks Team!!!

This is really cool. Waited too long for such a tool….

This is really cool!!! Like the previous commenter, this is how I also think and try to gather information. I also like the options of doc, web or RSS, and that I can keep track of my own tangents using a combination of these if I wish. It’s also great that I can delete or add topics, pics or whatever, along with adding on more.
I can’t wait to start playing with this!

The only turn-off I have right now is that “thought directed” sounds creepily close to “thought control” ala G. Orwell….Sentient Search Drive???? That’s a minor hitch, considering the scope of this otherwise I-want-to-play-with-this-now!-network.

This, to me, does represent much more closely, the way that creative thinking works and I think that that is it’s utter genius.

Thanks for the demo, and I eagerly await the next,
Karen

Looks fascinating. Couple thoughts/questions: can I aggregate content around multiple attributes? You showed a use case about “reputation management” however let’s say I want to have several dependent attributes, i.e. look at content specific to reputation management AND companies that operate in the retail sector AND who operate in the EU?

Secondly… is there any sentiment scoring or similar for aggregated content, so that I may filter down further?

Thanks.

This is exciting time. Can’t wait to see more Agents built on the thought network. Keep up the good work, folks.

Hi folks, thanks for all your comments! I’ll address a few here.

@raluca With regards to text mining, I can mention that we’re using a variety of analysis methods for retrieving data. However, what’s unique about Primal Fusion is our underlying technology for semantic synthesis. This allows us to dynamically calculate related concepts in real time, in response to a provided context (currently, a person’s answer to the question “What are you thinking about?”). This topic deserves a proper explanation, so FYI that we’re working on a white paper that explains things more clearly.

@anonymous I hear you! Some of the terminology we’ve introduced around thought networking sounds creepily close to “thought control”. Rest assured that’s not on our agenda. :-) One motivation for introducing this new idea of thought networking is that we’re taking a different approach towards semantics: instead of trying to “semantify” all the data on the Web, we’re instead helping people to semantify their ideas — which will enable computers to help us more effectively online.

@darcy Aggregating thoughts and content around multiple attributes is possible, though it’s not well supported in our current user interface. We don’t have sentiment scoring as such, but our platform supports some pretty interesting mechanisms for filtering down and exploring relationships — again, these will surface in future updates.

@everyone_else Thanks for your encouraging remarks on the vision for thought networking! It sounds like we’re all motivated by similar frustrations and desires. Please remember that what we’ve launched is a very early alpha release, so it’s only a tentative first step towards that vision. But we’re sharing it now in order to connect with people who’d like to help shape the evolution of thought networking. If that’s you, please sign up for an alpha account and participate in our discussion forum.

Long long do you take to activate the account? I cannot wait to see it working. Its been a while I registered but my account is still not activated.

@shreya It won’t be long! We’re really ramping up our activations today, in fact. We’re prioritizing them in order of when people made their requests, so earlier requests are fulfilled sooner.

This looks like a very promising platform. Looking forward to exploring the software (got my activation yesterday). Is there any documentation that provides a definition of a ‘thought network’?

Definitely progress in the right direction. I like it! Interesting work Fred!

Can I give the thoughts collected any structure that Primal Fusion will remember? Or it is only PF that connects topics?

@Michael, we’re in the process of preparing more information on how the platform works. Looking forward to your feedback on it. In the meantime, a concise definition of a thought network is a consumer-directed semantic network, where the semantic network is based on their abstract thoughts (as opposed to those based on existing knowledge representations such as documents).

@Dory, the current app doesn’t yet allow users to define the structure precisely, but that capability is on our roadmap.
